A Day Trip to the Snow

I have a love/hate relationship with snow. On one hand, it’s beautiful and there’s nothing quite like the quietness and peace you feel in it. On the other, it’s cold and if you know me, I was not made for the cold.

Ever since Emily was born though, we have tried to go up at least once during the season. And every year I keep wondering if she is going to like it a little bit more. Clearly she’s still a work in progress haha. It was Oliver’s first time experiencing snow and he seemed to do a little better in it than his sister. Although, he’s not a fan of putting his bare fingers in it.

Now that Oscar isn’t working up there, I would love to go up more, we have just had a harder time this year for some reason. I’m hoping we can change that next year though when Oliver is a little bit older and we’re maybe not working with nap times as much.

We find that the best time to go is early in the morning so we can beat the traffic a little bit. Bonus points of having a hubby who worked up on the mountain is that you find out little tips and tricks during that time. Plus they had just opened the highway so there weren’t too many people out there yet.

It took us a bit to find a spot because there is sooo much snow this year! All of the places we have gone in the past were impossible to get to. Luckily we ended up finding this little spot right off the highway. It had a nice little hill that we were able to sled down together, which was the only part Emily loved.

We wanted to get home before Oliver went down for his nap, so we didn’t get to stay a super long time. We had fun though and even got to enjoy some snow falling before we left as the next storm rolled in. I’m hoping to make it up one more time before the season is over which at the rate were going this year we will probably not be until June! What is your favorite thing to do in the snow? Let me know in the comments (: – Hay
